The Cultural Impact Conference 2012 will be taking place in Chicago on January 27, 2012. Click here for details!
Sessions throughout the day will explore where creativity comes from, what makes us passionate and willing to take risks, what prevents us from responding creatively to challenges, and how to unleash one’s creative potential.
I have been asked to speak on the role risk plays in an artist’s creative development. (Session 3.) This is a big and important topic for me, one that we explored in Old School New School.
In preparation, I’ve found this quote by Mark Twain that really puts a finger on the value of taking risk.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” — Mark Twain
