Freedom Dance is an animated documentary by Steven Fischer and Craig Herron retelling the dramatic escape of Edward and Judy Hilbert from Communist Hungary to the United States amid the tumult of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Along the way, Edward, a cartoonist, kept a journal in cartoon form detailing his adventure.
Many thanks to Dr. Jókay Károly, Executive Director of the US-Hungary Fulbright Commission in Budapest, Lilla Földy Molnár, and Katalin Parti at CEU for making the screening a reality.
