Tomas Arana Appears in Old School New School
December 29, 2009Earlier this month we shot the actor Tomas Arana in NYC for Old School New School. Moveigoers might recognize Tomas from his work as Quintus in Gladiator or as Lazarus in Scorsese’s Last Tempation of Christ. Tomas also works alot in Italy and regularly appears as Ricardo in the program Tutti Pazzi per Amore.

Hollywood Screening
May 29, 2009Did I mention that Kimberley Browning is one of planet Earth’s most beautiful people? She is the heart and soul behind Hollywood Shorts, and many months ago made the generous offer to coordinate and present a work-in-progress screening of Old School, New School, a study on the nature of creativity.

This work-in-progress screening is intended for a target audience focus group (art students and those interested in developing their creativity). Confirmed guests for the post screening discussion include 6-time Oscar nominee (and OSNS subject) William Fraker and Michael Polcino, director of The Simpsons and Family Guy animated series. The discussion continues the dialogue from the movie about taking risks, finding your own voice, defining success in the arts, and, in general, how to “make it” in the arts.

Visions of Light
July 1, 2008Watched Visions of Light in prep for the interview with Cinematography.tv, but it’s also good research for Old School. Conrad Hall really stood out as an engaging subject. I really got excited about trying to track him down. Imagine my disappointment and feelings of stupidity when, in my search to find him, discovered he was dead.
Melanie Jones at Kodak has been so wonderful in her support and encouragement. She’s connected me to a CCS, a PR firm. My new friend there is Lisa, and she’s been terrific in helping secure on-camera subjects for Old School. Top Hollywood D.P’s. A big name attached certainly couldn’t hurt.
